Indesign Media Group has acquired design magazines CUBES, Lookbox, and Lookbox Annual in Singapore.
December 21st, 2011
Expanding its footprint in South-East Asia within the design hub of Singapore, the acquisition of 3 titles from Concepts Asia Publishing will complement Indesign Media Group’s already successful distribution of design publications Indesign, DQ [Design Quarterly] and Habitus in the region.
CUBES and Lookbox magazines bring over a decade of loyal readership to Indesign Group’s media portfolio, and now with 12 staff members on the ground in Singapore, Indesign’s CEO & Publisher, Raj Nandan says the group is planning further expansion into emerging media hubs in Asia.
“This is just the beginning of our commitment to the design industry in South-East Asia. The support we have received from industry suppliers, clients, designers, architects, industry associations and the government in Singapore is overwhelming and very humbling. In 2012 we will open our own full service office in Singapore, and continue to develop premium events, and unique cross-platform content that speaks directly to our cult audience.”
Editor of CUBES Rachel Lee-Leong said her team is thrilled to be acquired by the group. “Both companies have many common beliefs with regards to how a culture of design can be cultivated and nurtured. I see both parties working with great synergy as we move forward.”
Sales Director across both Concepts Asia Publishing titles Meggy Lim said she was ’very happy to be part of the Indesign Group’. “The Indesign Group is an established player in the design publishing industry. This (acquisition) represents a new chapter after having run Concepts Asia Publishing for the last 10 years. I’m looking forward to conquering new frontiers with the team.”
Indesign Media Group began its Asian expansion early in 2011 when it launched Indesignlive.asia and licensed its flagship trade title INDESIGN to Indonesia (on sale 8 December).
It also launched Saturday Indesign Singapore in May 2011, attracting 3,000 visitors to over 31 showrooms and design spaces. The next highly anticipated edition of the event will return in October 2012.
