The Australian architecture community is in shock after the recent tragic loss of 3 top architects.

Lena Yali and Greg McNamara of Troppo Architects, and landscape architect Kevin Taylor of Taylor Cullity Lethlean passed away after the ute they were travelling in collided with a fire truck at a Darwin crossing last weekend.
Adelaide-based Troppo Architects director Phil Harris was also in the car at the time, but escaped without serious harm.
NT-based Yali and McNamara (pictured above, left and 4th from left) will be remembered for their unique additions to the Territory’s landscape.
Some of their most recent projects took out top awards at this year’s Northern Territory Architecture Awards, with St Mary’s Catholic Primary School New Hall and Library, Reggio Emelia Early Learning Centre and Courtyard, and Mortlock Lee House all receiving accolades.
The husband and wife duo were also responsible for the rejuvenation of Smith Street Mall and the renovation of the Darwin Entertainment Centre.
Taylor, an Adelaide-based landscape architect, was involved in a number of high-profile South Australian projects, including the masterplan for Adelaide’s Riverbank Precinct and the regeneration of the Victoria Square precinct.

Tributes to Yali, McNamara and Taylor continue to come in as the architecture and wider community deals with the shock of their loss. Phil Harris has released a touching statement that retells the fateful event. Our deepest condolences to all affected by this tragic incident.
