Queensland designer Alexander Lotersztain takes out design award.
October 30th, 2008
Alexander Lotersztain of Derlot has been announced the winner of the Corian® Design Awards Edition 3 Commercial category for his work on the Limes Hotel in Fortitude Valley, Brisbane.
Lotersztain has been recognised for his work on the Limes interiors. The hotel is becoming a buzzing night-time hotspot, with a tapas bar, roof-top cinema, café and guest rooms.
Inspired by the natural beauty of Fortitude Valley Lotersztain’s design brings a quirky sophistication to the building.
“I wanted to make Limes a design experience, however stripped of the associated design ideals of something unattainable. I shifted the design focus to make the guest feel special, yet not afraid of jumping into the bed like it was their own.”
Lotersztain considered eevery aspect of the design from the roof-top bar and cinema to the furniture, finishes and even the menus.
The Corian® Design Awards were created to recognise residential and commercial specifiers for their creative applications of Corian®. Lotersztain used the product throughout the guest bathrooms, the kitchens, bars and reception.
Edition 4 entries are now open and will close on 20 December 2008 with a Grand Final winner to be announced at the end of the year.
