A new photographic art book explores the life of Jørn Utzon and his iconic building
April 30th, 2009
Architect Jørn Utzon will soon be honoured with the release of a new publication. ‘Jøn Utzon’s Sydney Opera House’ is a personal account of the architect’s life and achievements.
A collaboration between author and photographer Katarina Stuebe and Utzon’s architect son, Jan Utzon, the book chronicles Utzon’s work on the opera house through photographs capturing the powerful iconic imagery of the building.
“Jørn Utzon has really mesmerised not only one nation but the whole world with his incredible spirit and his forward thinking design of the Sydney Opera House,” says Stuebe.
The international launch of the book, supported by Kinnarps Australia, will occur on Monday 18 May in the ‘Utzon Room’ of the Opera House, and will be opened by Susanne Shone – the Danish Ambassador in Australia.
Following the launch Stuebe and Jan Utzon will host a series of book signing events throughout the month of May at the Sydney Writers’ Festival, the Australian Institute of Architects and in a public forum at Custom’s House.
