Melbourne is the destination and Saturday 6th September is the date – get ready for this year’s one-day design extravaganza with a full guide to what’s on.
August 21st, 2025
Saturday Indesign, the most significant single-day design gathering in the Asia-Pacific region, returns once again this year with an exciting program across Melbourne.
First, let’s orientate ourselves: there are three distinct precincts in 2025 to help you get around and organise your day. Saturday Indesign will be grouped into the areas of Richmond, Collingwood and CBD & South Melbourne.Hop-on, hop-off buses will be circulating throughout the day to take you between precincts, or indeed within each precinct loop. Check out all of the events by precinct on the Saturday Indesign website here.
As for the events themselves, there’s a wide range of installations, activations and more. Saturday Indesign in Melbourne 2025 will offer everything from talks, design discussions and hospitality events to live music, interactive entertainment, showroom tours product launches and project installations.
There are simply too many exciting timed events to summarise in one place, but make sure you check out the full schedule to plan your timings for the day. Nevertheless, here are a few highlights to consider!
In the Richmond precinct, Baya will host a Live Rug Craft session in the morning where visitors will be able to witness artisan weavers at work as they craft New Zealand wool Sandringham Rugs live on the loom. Elsewhere in Richmond, Cosh Living has an all-day gathering – A Cosh Summer: Kett Outdoor Rooftop Reveal – featuring the latest outdoor collections from Kett and Tribù in an elevated setting. Nearby, Deco will have a Nathalie Du Pasquier Installation, while Design Precinct is set to host a display of Ronan and Erwan Bouroullec’s 3D sculptural vase.
Over in the Collingwood precinct, Innerspace is putting on a late morning talk entitled ‘Designing Outside The Lines: How Can Outdoor Pieces Help Create Emotive Social Connections?’ In the same precinct, K5 Furniture will offer two different talks with their ‘Around the Kitchen Table’ series.
The design discussion panels will, as always, be a highlight of Saturday Indesign. Living Edge, for example, will host a panel on ‘The Future of Work in a World of Change’ in Richmond while SBW will see a discussion on when emerging designers become established. Also a quiet shout-out for what should be a notable event at the Design Precinct with Klaro, Deco and Havwoods as their panel asks, ‘Melbourne vs Sydney: Where is the Design Capital of Australia?’
Moving to the CBD & South Melbourne precinct, Gaggenau will showcase ‘The Icons of Gaggenau’ for those keen to be among the first to experience the unveiling of the new Expressive and Minimalistic series. Elsewhere, Schiavello has Garden Party sessions at various points throughout the day, while Cosentino will host its Healthy Cooking Demo with Thermomix.
Let’s not forget the chance to win with Saturday Indesign’s giveaway highlights. Hali Rugs, for instance, is providing a chance to test your aim in ‘Wool You Hit It?’ – a playful, tactile installation where every guest gets three shots to take aim at five suspended wool poms for a chance to win a $5,000 voucher. Meanwhile, Top3 by design is offering a chance to win a three-night stay at Villa 21, Niramaya Villas + Spas in Port Douglas as well as a Flowerpot Portable Light from &Tradition.
The Project this year features highlights from Cosentino with Cristalo Resonance, Innerspace with Sit. Touch. Connect., K5 Furniture with Quiet Radical and V-ZUG x Whitehouse Institute Of Design Melbourne.
