The newB&B Italia Outdoor showroom in Surry Hills, Sydney represents an exciting new chapter for the Space Furniture Group, building on its three decades of experience bringing the world’s leading contemporary design brands to Australia and across Southeast Asia. B&B Italia Outdoor has been pushing boundaries with outdoor living for over five decades, blending the sophistication and comfort of indoor furniture with contemporary exterior spaces.
The world first standalone B&B Italia Outdoor showroom provides a curated experience, highlighting the breadth and depth of B&B Italia’s Outdoor Collection in a thoughtfully crafted retail space, conveniently located in Sydney’s popular art, design and restaurant precinct. The official new address is 85 Commonwealth Street. The opening was celebrated with a packed event in June 2025, with familiar faces from across Sydney’s design community and even further afield.
Pioneering the market since the 1970s, the brand launched its outdoor division in 1975 through Compagnia delle Filippine, in collaboration with longtime partners Afra and Tobia Scarpa. Travelling to the Philippines to study local materials and craftsmanship, together they fused traditional weaving techniques with innovative Italian design.
Through ongoing innovation and collaboration with leading designers, B&B Italia continued to move forward. In 2007, the launch of B&B Italia Outdoor marked a new chapter, debuting with Patricia Urquiola’s now-iconic Canasta collection. Since then, collaborations with renowned designers like Antonio Citterio and Piero Lissoni have led to celebrated collections including Crinoline, Mirto, and Borea. Each range is designed to fulfil a commitment to innovation, quality, timeless design and sustainability.
