The furniture brand sets foot outside Japan for the first time, exclusively at atomi.
September 15th, 2011
atomi in Singapore was recently appointed the first ever ’overseas boutique’ by the Gifu Prefectural Government in Japan, making it the sole worldwide carrier of selected brands from that region.
One of these to arrive in October is Nissin from Gifu’s northern city of Hida, an area known for its production of simple, sturdy modern furniture crafted using traditional techniques passed down through the generations.
Since it was established 60 years ago, Nissin has been consistently producing furniture in that spirit.
The company seamlessly combines North European designs with traditional woodwork to meet the lifestyles of today. The pieces are comfortable, warm to the touch, and highly durable. They are lightweight yet sturdy for daily use.
Selecting only quality timber, Nissin’s skilled craftsmen manufacture the products with special care and consideration, down to the final details.
Sustainability and environmental conservation are also deeply entrenched values. Nissin grows its own trees, selects the wood, and places strict controls on timber.
Not expecting the timber to be available right away, the company looks to the future, carefully raising trees under strict controls for use 50 or 100 years down the road.
