Leading Singapore industrial designer Nathan Yong presents two new furniture collections at the newly relaunched K+ at Scotts Square.
July 13th, 2016
Since it started in January 2015, K+ has held over 18 shows and worked with 32 collaborators from Singapore and around the world. The brand has now taken the next leap forward, relaunching as a new 4,000-square-foot multi-concept Gallery, Retail and Community space in its original premises at Scotts Square.
The new K+, which is nearly three times the size of its previous space, aims to offer an even larger platform for artists, designers and brands to showcase their work. While K+ will represent international and regional works, special attention will be given to local creators, in support of the Singaporean design scene.

To commemorate the opening of the new K+ Gallery, K+ has invited Nathan Yong to present a solo exhibition of two new and distinct projects: an innovative shelving solution under his eponymous label Nathan Yong Design, and a capsule collection under lifestyle retailer Grafunkt, co-founded by Yong.

Construction by Yong for Nathan Yong Design is a series of multifunctional shelves that makes use of unused corners. The shelves come in convex or concave arrangements, and explore how simple lines and shapes can be adapted to suit different lifestyles.

The second, titled Constellation for Grafunkt, is an 11-piece capsule furniture collection made up of chairs, tables and various other interior objects. The series distills the complexity of Yong’s design and thought processes into simple, elegant lines. It also sees Yong taking a departure from his usual materials of choice – wood and steel – in favour of velvet and marble.
Nathan Yong’s work will be on show at the K+ Gallery till 14 August. The pieces will be sold in K+ after.
