Since its unveiling at Euroluce 2017, WireRing by Formafantasma has made its way into five museum collections. Now it’s available from FLOS.

FLOS never fails to disappoint with its new product releases during the annual Milan Design Week. One of the standouts from its 2017 presentation was WireRing by Formafantasma – half way between a wall lamp and a floor lamp, and begging for photo taking of faces framed by its ring of indirect light.
“Disassembled, the lamp is reduced to a minimum. When mounted, it then reveals sculptural traits,” says Formafantasma. “The object is exclusively composed of two separate elements: a custom-made belt-like electric cable and a ring that contains a LED strip. The cable, which is often considered something to hide, is the focus allowing for the transmission of energy to the ring via electrical connectors.”
The customised rubber cable is produced in three colours: white, grey and light pink. The extruded aluminium ring is available in white, grey, pink, polished black nickel and polished gold. Cables (2.5 metres in length) are fixed to the wall with ABS joints in the same finish as the ring. The cables and rings can be mixed. A foot dimmer switch provides on-off control and 10-to-100-per-cent light adjustment.
WireRing has already been added to the permanent collections of The Art Institute of Chicago, the Stedelijk Museum in Amsterdam, the Cooper Hewitt, Smithsonian Design Museum in New York and the Philadelphia Museum of Art.
In Singapore, FLOS is carried by Space Furniture and P5.
