Antoniolupi gestures to the world of fashion with its new Gessati basins, which reference the lines on a pinstripe suit.
June 25th, 2019
Debuted at the Salone del Mobile this year, Antoniolupi’s Gessati collection of round, oval and rectangular top-mounted sinks was designed by Tuscan studio GUM Design, and brings a new expression to a familiar material.
Gessati fuses natural Carrara marble with the precision of the machine. Each basin is a composition of marble sheets (1cm or 2cm in thickness) joined by coloured resin and carved away into a curvaceous form with a router.
The precise ‘pinstripes’ are revealed as concentric rings on two sides of the basin. In contrast, the natural colour variation in the stone beautifully disrupts the order of the geometry and makes it impossible for any two Gessati basins to be the same.
