In line with their centennial milestone, the CLESTRA Hauserman Group collaborates with the inaugural Hong Kong Indesign: The Event 2013, aligning itself as a gold sponsor.
November 4th, 2013
Since 1913 with the invention of the demountable partition by the group’s founder, Earl J. Hauserman, CLESTRA Hauserman has expanded to achieve a prominent position in partitioning, cladding, and acoustic proof interiors worldwide. For 100 years CLESTRA has remained at the forefront of innovative partition systems and in its offering of space solutions, and today they celebrate their international success across 27 offices worldwide.
CLESTRA has been providing demountable partition systems since 1913
As a contracting company and manufacturer with two research and development offices in Shanghai and Strasbourg, and three manufacturing plants in China, Korea, and France, CLESTRA is able to offer customisable solutions for a variety of projects and customers coming from different industries.
CLESTRA plays with vertical spaces, integrating different colours, and steel and glass panel types
Due to their personal and professional approach and the company’s capability to offer unique and personalised solutions, CLESTRA has been awarded several large-scale projects throughout China and Hong Kong – amongst them the new Kai Tak Cruise Terminal in Hong Kong. The challenge for CLESTRA was to develop a free standing dividing system that could easily be reconfigured – either to adapt to the various needs of passenger flow management, or to reflect the needs of exhibitions and various events. The solution? The design team mapped out a grid panel with 300 bases installed under the granite tiles that enabled the set up of the partition and a range of configurations.

CLESTRA has been focusing on developing products that are more sustainable, have a lesser impact on the environment, and improve human comfort. CLESTRA Services has been able to transform and integrate spaces according to new industry developments, many times reusing products and systems that have been installed decades ago. This has been made even more visible as CLESTRA becomes the market leader in restack projects. In one such project, for the renovation of two floors for Hong Kong’s major airline, CLESTRA proposed the reuse of material installed in 1997 which pushed for a more sustainable, cost saving, and waste reducing project while allowing the space to be transformed into a refreshing design.
Project – Parkview Green, Beijing
Parkview Green in Beijing, China’s first certified platinum LEED project, brings together CLESTRA’s ability to complete large-scale projects with a sustainable focus. CLESTRA’s sustainable technology plays an important role in the building’s LEED certification. Using solid and glazed partitions, and the Equalos radiant ceiling, an energy efficient micro climate environment is created that acts as a buffer zone insulating the building from the hot Beijing summers and harsh winters, all while maintaining a comfortable working environment.
The wood mono-block system served as a unique and personalised solution in this project
Following CLESTRA’s centennial anniversary, a series of celebratory events have been held around Asia. In Hong Kong however, Managing Director, Paul Levy is set to collaborate with the inaugural Hong Kong Indesign: The Event, in what will be the city’s largest VIP industry event held on 30 November 2013.
