Visitors of Singapore Indesign Intimate 2015 will be able to access a rich variety of commercial suppliers from near and far, alongside The Project installations and the first ever Design Conversations, where key industry players will come together to provide insightful thoughts on four engaging sectors.
Held within two venues: Red Dot Design Museum and National Design Centre on 9 and 10 July 2015, visitors will be shuttled between both destinations to enjoy the multiple installments in comfort. BRANDS AT RED DOT DESIGN MUSEUM
One of the largest design destination in Asia, the Red Dot Design Museum in Singapore is a cultural landmark in its own right. Housed in a 1928 colonial building – formerly occupied by the Singapore Traffic Police Headquarters – the Museum exhibits over 1000 award winning works hailing from the prestigious Red Dot Awards while hosting regular creative activities.
The Museum has hosted Singapore Indesign since the latter’s inception in 2011, and continues the tradition this year. Here are the brands on showcase at the Red Dot Design Museum.
CULT works with some of the world’s leading European furniture brands, including Republic of Fritz Hansen, Cappellini, Carl Hansen + Son, Cassina, Dedon, Magis and Poltrona Frau. While doing so, the company champions quality Australian design and craftsmanship by providing designers in Australia and New Zealand the opportunity to prototype and produce their designs through different initiatives.
With established showrooms in Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane and Auckland, its presence in Singapore is a showing that is not to be missed.
Big Ass Fans, as its name suggests, manufactures the world’s largest HVLS (High Volume Low Speed) fans that range from 2.4-7.3m in diameter. Its portfolio includes industrial, commercial and residential pieces that were designed to fit various environments. In the case of this innovative brand, size do matter – Big Ass Fans takes pride in using size, rather than speed to ventilate and move massive quantities of air while consuming low amounts of energy.
In a tropical country like Singapore, Big Ass Fans is the go-to partner to beat the heat. The brand will be launching Haiku, a silent and efficient ceiling fan that is also aesthetically pleasing – look out for a Haiku giveaway!

A locally based supplier of decorative High Pressure Laminates (HPL) made of quality materials sourced from Europe and Japan, ADMIRA’s major brands include Admira, Aica, Duropal, Lamicolor and Dekodur. At the Red Dot, ADMIRA will preview its latest collection, Palette 2015/2016, which consists of over 300 HPL designs.
ADMIRA will also collaborate with Architology to create Flexile, an installation piece for The Project. This conceptual piece will demonstrate using ADMIRA’s laminates as a dynamic surface.
A German enterprise for electrical installations, Waldmann Lighting develops and produces professional light pieces for industrial, architectural, and medical fields. The “Engineer of Light” innovates with light technology seen through its extensive range of complex lighting systems.
Exclusive to this year at the Red Dot Design Museum, Waldmann Lighting would be showcasing a special installation of PARA.MI, an award-winning desk and task light, which visitors can stand a chance to win one for their home or workplace.
Born from an aluminium fabrication company that has been in the industry for decades, Alustil set out to revolutionaise the home furnishing industry by creating sophisticated, pragmatic, sustainable and versatile living environments. Check out its advanced aluminium craft products that results from its uncompromising workmanship and raw material selection expertise.
In collaboration with PLUS Collaboratives, Alusti’s piece for The Project invites visitors to slow down and engage their senses with the aroma and therapeutic pitter-patter of cold drip coffee.

One of the largest manufacturers of high pressure decorative laminates, Greenlam is the first in Asia to have a complete range of eco-friendly and anti-bacterial laminates.
In partnership with WOW Architects, Greenlam will create an installation titled ‘Balancing Birds’ from anti-bacterial laminates.
Youmans Capsule’s presentation cases are created in New Zealand to help creative professionals carry, protect and display their work. Visitors can customise their sales presentation at the event and receive discount on selected models.
BRANDS AT NATIONAL DESIGN CENTRE (NDC)
Over the years, the National Design Centre (NDC) located at the Bras Basah precinct has become a stop for multiple fields of design in Singapore. The building had previously housed multiple institutes: St Anthony’s Convent (1879-1994), Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts (1995-2004) and the Chinese Opera Institute (1995-2009), before converting into the NDC by SCDA Architects to host design exhibitions, retail spaces, workshops and offices.
Adding to the buzz, Singapore Indesign Intimate will take over the atrium space of NDC. Here are the brands on showcase at the NDC:
Schiavello was founded in 1996 in Melbourne. The multi-disciplinary company dedicates itself to the development of intelligent, inspiring, ecological and resilient solutions for the office, home and public spaces.
A must-see at Schiavello’s stand is the Kayt Village Collection – an area designed for creative interaction, one to one focus, quick sharing of information and contemplation. Visitors can also meet Keti Malkoski, Schiavello’s Principal – People and Culture, Australia, who will be in town to launch Schiavello’s new book, The Power of Workspace for People and Business on 9 July at 3pm. A lucky winner will head home with the coveted OTM Table by Schiavello & Doshi Levien.
As a company, EDL has shaped itself around ideas and creative visions over the years. The brand combines science and intuition to create design-centric, quality-driven laminates that ensure the passage of time.
EDL will be launching its new nanotech matt material FENIX NTM® to the region at Singapore Indesign Intimate, through a creative collaboration with K2LD Architects. The duo has created an installation where technology, nature and design meets to demonstrate the qualities of the nanotech material.
Established in 1995, Deco Expression is a specialist surface solution provider with a range of products made for interior design and architecture projects. Deco Expression is the exclusive distributor for 2tec2, a high-tech woven vinyl floor covering from Belgium. Borne from the combination of traditional weaving and the use of superior modern materials, the material is ideal for both commercial and residential applications.
A new collection, Lustre, by 2tec2, will deck out the Cubes Lounge at Singapore Indesign Intimate. Visitors can also participate in a social media contest to win a 2tec2 rug.
For fifty years, FLOS has been crafting lighting through principles of art and design. Following its success at Euroluce in Milan, FLOS will be displaying, for the first time in Asia, three new noteworthy collections: Copycat by Michael Anastassiades, Clara by Piero Lissoni and The Tracking Magnet by Flos Architectural.
Scandinavian brands HÅG, RBM and RH are owned by Scandinavian Business Seating, an environmentally conscious company with a straightforward vision: “To make the world a better place to sit!” The company believes that human beings were not made to sit long hours in office chairs, and that movement and variation is central to productivity and efficiency.
The ergonomics company will be launching the HÅG Capisco Puls (White Edition); Noor Paloma Leather Edition and H09 Paloma Leather Edition at the event.
Woven Image is an international textile design company specialising in textiles for commercial interiors. Established in 1987, after identifying a strong need for design driven textile products, Woven Image continues its legacy of collaborating with Australian artists and leading designers. With a key partnership with worldwide design industry leader KnollTextiles, the Woven Image brand has ensured the consistent delivery of contemporary textile design.
Founded in 1872 by cabinetmaker, Fritz Hansen in Copenhagen, the Republic of Fritz Hansen is a giant in luxury furniture, with a rich collection of products that span more than 140 years now, including classic designs by Danish design legends. The 7 Architects x Series 7™ exhibition, where seven Singapore based designers and architects interpret the iconic 1955 Fritz Hansen Series 7™ chair, will be showcased at the event. The seven participants include Brendon Lim, IMAJIN; Colin Seah, Ministry of Design; Robert Greg Shand, Robert Greg Shand Architects; Sam Ang and Sal Chua, Grey Canopy; Peter Tay, Peter Tay Studio; Terence Chan, Studio Terre; Leong Hon Kit and Si Jian Xin, WYNK Collaborative.

Founded in 1907 in Germany, Wilkhahn is the award-winning manufacturer of high-quality office chairs and conference furnishings. With a brand name synonymous with innovation, timelessness, pragmatism, aesthetics and environmental responsibility, Wilkhahn is one of few companies who design, manufacture and distribute their own products.
For Singapore Indesign Intimate, Wilkhahn will showcase the ON task chair that has “trimension mechanism which allows full body movement while being seated”, as well as task chairs from the past, present and future as part of an installation for The Project, created in collaboration with SCA Design.
