The host of internationally-acclaimed series Grand Designs, Kevin McCloud, will present the inaugural National Building Design Awards in October 2014.
September 19th, 2014
The 2014 National Building Design Awards will showcase the expertise, creativity and excellence of building designers nationwide. The Awards are the brainchild of the National Association of Building Designers, the peak representative body for building designers in Australia.
The Awards will be held as part of Grand Designs Live in Melbourne on Saturday 18 October.
Kevin McCloud praised the efforts of Australian designers in the built environment.
“The passion of building designers is one of the driving forces behind why so many Australians continue to fulfil their dream projects,” Mr McCloud said.
“I look forward to seeing the best of the best at the first ever National Building Design Awards.”
More than 15 awards will be presented including ‘Best New Residential Design’, ‘Best Residential Interior Design’, ‘Best Heritage Design’ and ‘National Building Design of the Year’.
As a champion of sustainable development, Kevin McCloud will also be the Sustainability Award Ambassador and present the ‘Best Sustainable Design Award’.
“Sustainability is going to become an enormously important part of how we organise ourselves spatially in the future, not just to reduce our environmental impact,” Mr McCloud said.
Established in 2013, the National Association of Building Designers promotes and develops the building design profession and their excellent work. Its objectives include formalising education programs, sharing expertise and pursuing continuous professional development.
The 2014 National Building Design Awards will partner with Grand Designs Live Melbourne 17-19 October & Sydney 24-26 October; and is proudly sponsored by James Hardie Australia and WoodSolutions.
