Green vinyl flooring – a world first.
July 21st, 2010
The recent visit to Australia by Swedish sisters Annica and Marie Eklund of woven vinyl flooring company Bolon marks the launch of the brand’s new ’Botanic flooring collection, distributed in Australia by The Andrews Group (TAG).
Visiting Melbourne and Sydney as part of an extended trip around the world, Annica (Managing Director) and Marie (Design and Marketing Manager) spoke passionately about their new product.
We have invested in technology by partnering with a university to invent a plasticiser to make our vinyl flooring soft,” says Marie. “We are the first flooring company in the world to present it.”
As well as making the product softer, the new plasticiser is based on renewable raw material from the vegetable kingdom as part of an environmental initiative to make a climate neutral product.
The colour range of ’Botanic’ is also taken from the natural world, featuring muted, rich earth tones combined with bright accents in yellow and green.
“With ’Botanic’, we have created a tangible textile feeling,” says Marie.
“It has a modern look but flirts exquisitely with idioms from the past. A calm nuance is very suitable for large surfaces and projects, but it is also possible to break it up with a playful stripe or a colour which stands out, such as the green or yellow.”
