Electrolux Design Lab 2010 challenges undergraduate and graduate industrial design students around the world to compete for a six-month paid internship and prize money by submitting ideas on shrinking domestic spaces.
As urban centres extend rapidly and with 74 % of the population expected to be living in urban environments, this year’s competition invites students to develop solutions for homes in the year 2050.
Space limitation, functionality and ergonomics must coexist in the entries, whilst eco-conscious and cost-effective designs are also must.
Electrolux will be awarding a $ 1,000 AUD cash prize to all Australian students entries that are short-listed for the finals.
The deadline for entries is May 1, 2010. Australian design students are encouraged to enter via the Electrolux Design Lab website.
Eight finalists will be invited to participate in the final event in London later this year, to present their entries.
Designs will be graded based on intuitive design, innovation and consumer insight.
The first prize will be awarded a six-month paid internship at an Electrolux global design centre and 5,000 Euros.
The second prize winners will be awarded 3,000 Euros and third prize, 2,000 Euros.
Deadline for entries is 1 May 2010.
