As urban centres extend rapidly and with 74 % of the population expected to be living in urban environments, this year’s competition invites students to develop solutions for homes in the year 2050.

Space limitation, functionality and ergonomics must coexist in the entries, whilst eco-conscious and cost-effective designs are also must.

Electrolux will be awarding a $ 1,000 AUD cash prize to all Australian students entries that are short-listed for the finals.

The deadline for entries is May 1, 2010. Australian design students are encouraged to enter via the Electrolux Design Lab website.
