What do you do: Writer, editor, commissioning and managing editor of Australian and international books, magazines, newsletters and websites particularly in design, culture, sustainability and cities.
Favourite designer: Patricia Urquiola, bernabeifreeman
Favourite design destination: Surry Hills and if had the time and money, Tokyo, Hong Kong, Bangkok, Barcelona, Berlin, Copenhagen and Helsinki (etc!)
Inspiration: City streets, cafes, conversation, current affairs print and digital, museums, art galleries, film festivals and afternoon trips to Dendy or Palace Cinemas.
Work in progress: Cities and place making in Australia and North and South-East Asia, sustainable housing and commercial buildings including products, life cycle assessment, green roofs and office design, managing editor of books on infrastructure and planning, health reform (and e.g. design for aged care) and another on Australia’s Nobel Laureates, working on a novel set in Tokyo.
Other areas of interest: Walking, travel – armchair and actual, following sport especially soccer, cricket and tennis, reading novels, Australian and Asian (Japanese in particular) culture, collecting sake cups, ceramic and wooden animal statuettes and sculptures.
