Applications are now open for submission to the Design NSW: Travelling Scholarhsip.
Open to NSW product and communication designers within the first five years of professional practice.
Worth $18,000 the scholarship will help one emerging designer to travel overseas to undertake a program of professional development.
Last year’s winner, Grphic Novel and comic book designer Matthew Huynh said: “Receiving the scholarship meant I could undertake opportunities otherwise quite closed off for me as an Australian comic creator.
“With such a small scene in Australia, it was invaluable to have access to other creators and see how they work.”
Entries will be judged on key criteria including: authenticity and innovation, practicality and performance and ecological impact and social responsibility.
Applications close Wednesday 17 June 2009 with the winner announced in August.
