The Australian landscape has always inspired the creative mind. Our unique geography is ripe for getting the creative mind flowing, and it’s this that inspired Laminex to create their new collection.
From the organic green hues of coastal scrub and the unrefined timber of the central Australian bush, to the shimmering aqua of our seas, the diverse palette of the Australian landscape is a natural inspiration point for surfaces. Laminex’s Landscape series channels this beauty into a functional and stylish surfaces range.
Comprising 17 different colours, 13 of them new, Landscape is a fitting collection for an iconic Australian brand like Laminex. With more than 80 years of local manufacturing and deign expertise under the brand’s belt, it’s natural that Laminex would look to their own backyard for inspiration in design. Realistic, tactile woodgrains match with muted colours and soft hues, all inspired by nature.
Like the landscape around us, the range promises to stand the test of time, combining the practical strength and long-term resilience of the brand’s engineered laminate with the untamed beauty of the natural world.
“Laminex surfaces boast a high degree of duralbility befitting high traffic, functional zones such as kitchens, bathrooms, robes, laundries and studies,” says General Manager, of marketing Sacha Leagh-Murray “These are all essential spaces that we engage with daily, so it’s crucial that they not only meet practical requirements and withstand wear and tear, but also offer visual and textural interest.”
In launching the new collection, some of the Sydney design community’s best and brightest were invited to an exclusive launch dinner in Surry Hill’s Firedoor. Firedoor boasts Australia’s first fire-powered menu – showcasing beauty of wood-fired cooking. Guests enjoyed a sumptuous five-course meal in the urban inspired open kitchen restaurant, with the smell and aroma of wood tying in well to the natural experience of the Landscape series.
The event was a true feast for the senses, with the new Laminex collection being laid out as placemats for the meal, giving the lucky invitees as chance to truly get some hands on experience with the range.
Landscape captures the romance and drama of Australia’s natural geography, within a hardwearing and stylish surface. We toast to Laminex on their new collection, and can’t wait to see what our local designers come up with when employing this unique new range.
