We’ve done our research on the history of Robertson Quay and created an info-rich map for Saturday Indesign. Use it to familiarise with the story of the Singapore River and one of its most serene neighbourhoods.
October 8th, 2019
Did you know that our Saturday Indesign Curated Space venue, 72-13 Mohamed Sultan Road, still has its original timber flooring from its days as a riverside warehouse? And the original iron security bars on its ground-floor windows are still there?
Or that kampungs survived in Robertson Quay up till the early 1980s?
It’s hard to imagine now, with hotels and condos lining the riverbanks. These are just some of the facts we unearthed when compiling our online walking map for Saturday Indesign.
You see, our free Saturday Indesign shuttle buses are a fabulous way to get from A to B on the day. They’ll run continuously between the Curated Space and the Tan Boon Liat Building, and if the weather gets too hot or wet, we’ll be piling in.
But a riverside stroll, punctuated by the fun facts in our walking map, would be a great way to enjoy the serene river environs – and get to know Robertson Quay better at the same time.
We’ve pinpointed 12 spots along the route (including our two Saturday Indesign venues) and marked them with dots. Tap or click on each one to expand historic or background info, and finish up your Saturday Indesign with a newfound capacity for impressing your friends with local facts!
The walking route between venues takes 15-20 minutes. Access the map by mobile on the day. See you on the footpaths and at Saturday Indesign!
