A dining table is a big-ticket item in one’s home. Like a bed and mattress in the bedroom, a dining table is quite literally the centre of all the action in the dining room. And with the ascension of the kitchen and dining area as the social space of our domestic life, it is high time that furniture brands start offering dining tables are the centrepiece of the space in their own right as opposed to a mere surface on which centrepieces are arranged.
Enter Plinto, a family of dining tables from Meridiani. Plinto is one the key pieces in the second batch of Meridiani’s Editions – the brand’s premium collection that combines handcrafting and age-old materials with a contemporary aesthetic. Designed by Meridiani Art Director Andrea Parisio, the family of elegant dining tables is built of an architectural play of lines, planes and volumes.
The sheer array of variants and finishes offered by Plinto is an invitation to tailor-build an ideal dining table to complement one’s space. Plinto features a metal frame base in either a black varnish or bronzed brass finish that can be combined with solid volumes to create a playful positive and negative visual composition.
Fine detailing is one of the hallmarks of Meridiani’s Editions and this can be seen on Plinto’s table tops. A variety of shapes (round, rectangular, square and hexagonal), sizes and finishes are available, and so too are a variety of plinths – a subtle detail that creates different impressions of the profile of the table. Customers and designers can also specify the finishes for the table’s elements (base, top and plinth) from three kinds of marble, six types of wood veneers and 12 colours of matte or glossy lacquer.
Meridiani is available in Singapore from Marquis.
