For nearly half a century, King Living has been designing and engineering furniture that exemplifies the principle of lasting quality.

Long before sustainability became a buzz phrase, the King Living Team, led by founder David King, were embedding values of durability, modularity, repairability and material excellence in every chair, chaise, lounge, sofa bed, ottoman and coffee table that emerged from the company’s manufacturing facilities and showrooms.
The fundamentals have not changed since 1977: frames are crafted from steel, for maximum durability, covers are replaceable, and every item comes with a commitment to repairability. King Living aims to provide Australians with furnishings that provide comfort, style and amenity through every season of the life of a household.

Through dedication to invention, innovation and design excellence, King Living has also received a stellar array of national and international awards for some of the iconic sofas and modular collections including Jasper, Haven and the 1977 Sofa. Kudos including Red Dot Awards, Good Design Awards and iF Awards have recognised the impeccable aesthetic qualities coupled with scrupulous craftsmanship and superior materials that set King products apart.
King Living Head of Design, Chris Cooke, is helping shape the future innovation of the brand’s award-winning collection while nurturing emerging talent across the in-house design team.
Born in the UK, Chris has built his design career across interior, product, and furniture including over a decade with Bentley Motors where he progressed from materials and finishes to heading the Lifestyle and Global Collaborations team. He has collaborated with Philippe Starck, Carlo Colombo, and Federico Peri, and partnered with Macallan, Naim, and Graf von Faber-Castell.
Since joining the King Living team, Chris has been leading the ongoing work of innovation and production excellence that are a signature of King products.

“The team has a deep respect for materiality, craftsmanship and longevity. All qualities that align with my own design values,” Chris explains
“Many brands claim to value longevity, but King Living truly builds it into every part of the product. That commitment to modular design, a timeless aesthetic and long-term value is something that sets them apart globally.”
In a consumer market saturated with fast fashion and endless churn of products and styles, King takes the path less travelled of deliberately championing made-to-order design that aims to endure for a lifetime, if not beyond.
For property developers and contractors sourcing quality pieces is essential when delivering projects such as build-to-rent, common areas of multi-residential apartments and commercial developments. For furnishing shared indoor spaces including social zones, lobbies, breakout areas, display suites and exterior zones including patios and amenities, King Living products offer enormous advantages in terms of adaptability, luxurious aesthetics and robust performance. Equally, the diversity in the range with pieces suitable for living areas, bedrooms and shared outdoor spaces enables interior designers and architects working on residential and commercial projects to deliver a seamless, unified aesthetic that meets the most exacting client brief.

A myriad of customisation options coupled with modularity of features and accessories including storage, armrests, backrests and smart inclusions such as charging stations speaks to the contemporary need for convenience and personalisation of comfort. Removable covers and a stupendous array of colours, textures and textiles for fully removable covers means a King Living sofa or chair can always keep pace with changes in lifestyle, interior scheme or tastes.
This extended lifecycle also dramatically reduces waste and environmental impact. The use of quality steel frames and judicious choice of cushioning and cover materials further enhances the embedded environmental sustainability approach.
Layers of technology are built into every King Living sofa, starting with the same steel suspension seen in luxury European cars, and the steel frame is also backed by a 25-year Steel Frame Warranty. The Postureflex® Seating System works together with the steel frame to deliver ultimate support that is resilient to the demands of family life while providing peerless comfort and ease.

Further to this, every King piece is eligible for refurbishment through King-Care®, the dedicated aftercare service. This ensures customers can enjoy their sofa for a lifetime.
“King Living is redefining what timeless design really means,” Cooke says. “It’s not just how it looks. It’s how it can evolve with you, year after year.”
