A total of 150 projects by Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts (NAFA) diploma and degree graduates majoring in interior design, exhibition design, environmental design, furniture design and jewellery design will be exhibited at the NAFA campus from 21 to 25 May.

The Department of 3D Design has curated this year’s show to highlight the creative diversities within the department through a rarified white space – inspired by White Cube in London’s Hoxton Square where the works of the world’s best contemporary artists are displayed.

This inspiration in brought into the contemporary Southeast Asian context of Singapore, where the idiosyncrasies of diverse ethnic cultures are constantly being blended and reinvented. ’Whiteness’ is denoted as a new purism resulting from the confluence of a collective consciousness – the distillation of the multiplicity facets of Southeast Asian creativity and sensibilities.

NAFA, since its founding in 1938, has been an experimental ground where Western painting techniques have combined with local and regional subjects through the ’Nanyang Style’. This year’s graduation show is an extension of this same spirit of experimentation.

Date: 21 May – 25 May
Opening Hours: 11.30am – 7.30pm
Venue: Galleries 1 & 2 and Lim Hak Tai Gallery, NAFA Campus 1
