Beyond the skyscrapers to be found in Malaysia’s capital of Kuala Lumpur and other major cities in the country, there are still many rural villages going through the process of development and change.
This video explores the rural transformation of one of Malaysia’s jewels, Bario, a cluster of villages located in the Kelabit Highlands, northeast of Sarawak.
Bario is one of many villages experiencing infrastructural and social development. Basic amenities that we take for granted such as treated water, electricity and Internet access are crucial in lifting an area like Bario out of poverty.
