SingaPlural returns from 12 to 16 March with more activities and more locations around Singapore.

The week-long design festival that is SingaPlural will be back for its third edition from 12 – 16 March and this year, it has also been named the anchor event of Singapore Design Week; it will be running almost concurrently with the inaugural Maison & Objet Asia and the annual International Furniture Fair Singapore (IFFS).

Open to members of the design community as well as the public, this year’s SingaPlural will include installations, curated design spaces, symposiums, competitions, as well as platforms that invite a closer collaboration between different design disciplines.

The event will cover more locations this year – seven to be exact – including Dhoby Ghaut Green, Bugis+, LASALLE College of the Arts, Park Mall, the new National Design Centre, Robinsons Orchard and Singapore Expo, where the IFFS is also being held.

SingaPlural 2014 – 30 LifeStories – irememberParks

The popular 30 LifeStories segment launched last year returns with 30 installations by local creatives made of salvaged prune tree logs.

Design Larger Than Life is also back as a collection of six supersized interactive outdoor installations at Dhoby Ghaut Green and will include an installation curated by acclaimed Japanese designer Yoichi Nakamuta, entitled “Spectrum”.

48 Hours Challenge at SingaPlural 2013

In addition, this year’s 48 Hours Challenge extends from Park Mall to the new Robinsons Orchard where participating design teams will have 48 hours to transform allocated spaces into sensorial visual merchandising displays following a creative theme. Selected entries from the finalists of the Furniture Design Award 2014 will also be displayed in Robinsons Orchard between April and June 2014 and will be available for pre-order.

Other programmes of note include the Furniture Design Platform featuring prototypes by new and promising furniture designers in Singapore and the region; the FurnitureCraft Showcase of works produced during a workshop centred on furniture making with traditional materials; the Asian Star Showcase of rising talents in the region; and Design Conversations, a series of sharing sessions where industry professionals will share their thoughts and ideas with students and design enthusiasts.
