Victoria Theatre and Concert Hall, Kerry Hill and the new Park + Associates’ Office are just some reasons why this issue is monumental.
October 1st, 2014
There are magazine issues that we are proud of, and then there are issues that we are really proud of. Our 70th one belongs to the latter. It could be sentimentalism and our need to celebrate milestones speaking, but I like to think not.
This issue is brimming with projects that speak of daring, innovation, and serendipity – we all know how important that can be. Our cover project Park+Associates’ office certainly started off with a bit of good fortune when the firm found prime real estate within The Herencia, previously the old Nan Chiau High School. Park+Associates’ design of the office pays homage to the original architecture of the space in elegant ways. More importantly, their office seems to signal a new season of design for the architecture studio.
Victoria Theatre and Concert Hall
We also feature the recently unveiled Victoria Theatre and Concert Hall by W Architects. Designed with the finesse of a maestro, Victoria Theatre and Concert Hall is a perfect marriage of art and engineering. We explore the complexities of this project with its architect, engineer and client.
We could not have run our regular studio profile series for long without eventually throwing the spotlight on Kerry Hill. A master architect if ever there was one, Hill shares about his architectural genesis and reveals an alchemic sense of intuition and exactitude.
Other stories that join us in celebrating our 70th issue include a candid conversation between photographer Rebecca Toh and designer/retailer/all-round creative Edwin Low, a feature on living legend Mario Bellini, Produce’s latest architectural abstract for restaurant Wild Rocket, and so much more.
As always, I say, enjoy.
