Taking inspiration from its vibrant beachside location and throwing in a few quirky surprises, the QT Gold Coast Hotel brings designer fun to Surfers Paradise.
June 3rd, 2011
For the first in a series of Gold Coast designer hotels, architects Nic Graham + Associates needed to create an eye-catching design that captured the vibrancy and fun of its surrounds.
The result is “a mix of nostalgic surfer chic combined with Miami catwalk cool,” said Nic Graham.
Bright colours and patterns offset smooth timber finishes for a collage of designs and ideas that is vivid but not overdone.
Lighting plays a key part in the fit-out. Lighting designers PointOfView have used custom pendants and discrete spotlights to create ambience in the Stingray bar.
Bazaar restaurant has a more vibrant, active feel, and lighting is seamlessly integrated to bring together the different features of the space and highlight its displays and curiosities.
The ground floor, lobby, restaurant and bar were reopened in January 2011 following their design overhaul.
The hotel’s guest rooms and conference rooms are set for a transformation beginning in July, to be completed in time for the summer.
