The Australian Institute of Architects announced its 2014 International Architecture Awards on Friday 25 July. These awards recognize overseas projects by Australian architects, and these winners, selected by the Institute’s International Area Committee, effectively make up the shortlist for the Jørn Utzon Award for International Architecture, which will be presented at the 2014 National Architecture Awards, on 6 November in Darwin.
From a total of twenty-four projects entered, eleven were recognized with either an award or commendation across categories aligned to the Institute’s national awards program.
Mostly drawn from Asia, the projects reflect the regional focus of the 2014 National Architecture Conference (Making), and demonstrate the breadth of work by Australian architects, particularly in Singapore and China.
