Bolon celebrates ‘The Story of Bolon’ with the launch of a limited edition book and a trip to Australia for Sydney Indesign.
July 25th, 2013
To mark the 10th anniversary at the wheel of the family business, sisters Annica and Marie Eklund commissioned a one-of-a-kind book.
Somewhere between a retrospective tome and a coffee table book, through photographs and essays it charts the evolution of a traditional Swedish weaving mill in 1949 to become the globally recognised brand that Bolon is today.
Simply titled The Story of Bolon, the notion of family runs clearly throughout. The publication draws on a wealth of historical and contemporary photographs complemented by interviews with some of the world’s foremost creators, designers and architects – from Rosita Missoni, Jean Nouvel and Giulio Cappellini to Thomas Sandell and Gert Wingårdh.
With images exquisitely photographed by Tobias Regell, The Story of Bolon serves to reinforce the artisanal, personal line that the Eklund sisters take through the entire company from design and production to branding.
Annica and Marie Eklund will be in Australia this August for Sydney Indesign. There are many opportunities to meet with and hear from the pair whilst they are in town, appearing at Corporate Culture, Spence & Lyda as well as the Indesign Podium at Galleria.
