Iluka Furniture combines design, craftsmanship and function to create a unique range of contemporary Australian outdoor settings.
April 21st, 2011
The brand was created when Julian Rattray, now Director of Iluka Furniture, designed a new range of outdoor tables in collaboration with Melbourne-based architect Abe McCarthy.
After many years of experience in commercial furniture, Rattray had the design savvy to make a quality product, as well as the enthusiasm and creativity to create something new and exciting.

The result was a range of clean, hand-crafted Australian-made tables able to be custom built to client specifications.
“Our aim was to carve a niche in an already saturated market,” said Rattray.
“We needed to create well-designed top quality Australian furniture with an emphasis on design.”
Rattray enlisted brand and identity designer Brent Patrick O’Keefe as Creative Director of Iluka Furniture, and the brand was born.
O’Keefe was keen to “create a brand that has credibility within the design sector and an image that is totally unique in the existing market.”
The fresh, modern aesthetic is a key element of Iluka Furniture’s style and is also reflected throughout its branding. The product and company image is contemporary and quintessentially Australian.
The Iluka Furniture range is soon to be available in Australia through Parterre.
