The Ray and Charles Eames story is one well documented – their exploration of method and material having delivered some of the most iconic pieces of 20th Century Design.

That ethos is honoured today in the continued reissuing of some of their classics, with a twist, a testament to the spirit of problem solving and their dedication to achieving a timeless aesthetic.

Eames® Moulded Wood Chair

A principle demonstration of this is the recent release of the Eames’ landmark Moulded Plastic Chair in timber.   Replacing the colourful plastic shell that sits elegantly atop myriad base options, the new shell uses timber and a new 3D veneer technology that achieves the curved and sinuous aesthetic that distinguishes the Eames moulded chair collection.

A range of seat finishes and base options allows for 21 different combinations in this model – expanding on the Eames devotion to discovery.

Introduced to the Australian market by Living Edge at the recent Sydney Indesign event in Sydney.  Charles Eames once famously stated that, “Design depends largely on the constraints.”

In the pursuit of sustainability and the spirit of innovation, Herman Miller have built on this premise to revisit Eames’ work and present us with yet another timeless offering.
