Branca for Mattiazzi is a finalist in this year’s Australian International Design Awards.
June 21st, 2012
Herman Miller’s Branca chair, designed by Sam Hecht for Mattiazzi, has been named a finalist in the 2012 Australian International Design Awards (AIDA).
Presented by Good Design Australia, AIDA is Australia’s longest running design recognition program, raising awareness of the importance of good design and raising the bar for well-designed products.
With its classic American feel and a form inspired by tree branches, Branca is a sophisticated example of contemporary design.
The seat and back are carved from a single piece of wood, and the joints are seamless. The simple shape of the chair belies the complexity of its production.
Branca joins 105 other finalists in this year’s program. Winners will be announced on Friday 20 July 2012.
