The opening of Marimekko’s flagship store last week was, fittingly, a vibrant affair
November 5th, 2012
Marimekko’s new Sydney flagship store has thrown the doors open – housed in an art deco building at 66 King Street, well placed alongside the new Louis Vuitton Australia flagship, Apple and a suite of similar premium brands.
Internally, the space is designed by the same team who were in charge of the visual layout in the flagship stores in Helsinki and New York – extending the cohesive and crisp visual presentation of the brand into a new era in a new region.
Impressively proportioned, the two-storey showroom enjoys eight metre ceilings and in a first for Sydney, the entire venue is LED lit using advanced spotlight and ambient fittings.
“Positive and easygoing Australians like Marimekko’s playfulness and colour. This is why I believe our new stores will do well.” Says president and CEO Mika Ihamuotila
This week Melbourne’s store will also be opened, taking up residence at 576 Chapel Street, South Yarra.
