Raising the profile of regional architects and their work and creating community where all can gather and share, the Regional Architecture Association (RAA) is once again providing a platform for dialogue in CENTRED 2024. CENTRED – making space for community, will be held from June 13 – 15 2024 in Yamba and is certain to be a pivotal event for the RAA . Yamba is located on the North coast of New South Wales, at the mouth of the Clarence River and is a popular beach-side town that is a perfect sunny location for a RAA winter event.
Of primary interest will be the speaker series taking place on Friday 14th June, curated by Yamba based architect Louisa Gee, Creative Director of CENTRED. Optional fringe events on the Thursday and Saturday are also available to ticket holders; these include a studio visit, walking tour, social meals, a visit to Fergus Scott’s Toumbaal Plains house and for those game enough, a dip in the ocean.

The panel discussions will include questions extended to the audience to encourage collective discussion on such vital ideas as ‘What are the limitations, possibilities and strategies to guide regional futures?’. Speakers for the event include Dan Etheridge, Living Lab Northern Rivers, Sarah Aldridge, SPACEstudio, Paulo Macchia, Director of Governance, GANSW, Sonia van de Haar, Lymesmith, Matt Eagle, ME, Dan Plummer, Plummer & Smith, Louisa Gee, Louisa Gee Architects and John McKay, John McKay Architects.
RAA events are open to associated disciplines and interested community members as well as RAA members. The RAA is inclusive and extends an invitation for all to contribute to help support the growth of its association and strengthen architecture and design in the regions.
For more information view the event page of the RAA website here and join the community in the promotion of architecture and design.
