Sydney’s Sussex Lane will look at sustainability in the city with a fun pop up event during March.
February 24th, 2012
March 5 and 6 will see Sydney’s Sussex Lane rechristened as Pop Sydney. Green grass, mood lighting, grass bowls and a giant screen will see the street transform into a buzzing pop-up venue.
“During the day you will be able to stretch out on the grassed lawn, escape the office for some fun or enjoy lunch in the open air,” says Lord Mayor Clover Moore of the City of Sydney initiative.
“Then at night, speakers will discuss inspiring ways to make our city greener.
“It’s a taste of the city we’re working towards with locally produced energy, less waste and better use of water.”
On Monday 5 March, Pecha Kucha will see local bloggers, urbanists and architects discussing their thoughts on creating a greener city. On Tuesday 6 March, networking event GreenUps will look at sustainability and the city, connecting Sydneysiders with green experts.
The events coincide with the national Green Cities 2012 conference in Sydney, featuring thought leaders in green building from around the world.

Each designer will be given a kit containing two Chandon Sparkling corks, foil hoods and wire cages. There have already been over 500 entries to the competition and “the judges are looking […]
