Newcastle listens up to design industry creatives.
March 3rd, 2010
It might sound like the scolding you got as a child, but ‘Look Hear’ promises to be far from a punitive experience when it launches next week at the Newcastle Region Art Gallery.
Throughout the month of March, Newcastle’s residents will be treated to a series of weekly events, in which creative professionals exit their studios and take to the stage to ‘perform’ a series of talks and presentations.
Each Wednesday evening from 10 March, a selection of designers and artists will be sharing their creative processes, methods and techniques and revealing the inspirations behind their creativity.
The talks, which took place last year at the View Factory, amongst others will feature Sydney’s artistic duo Webuyyourkids, whose elaborate artwork for album covers has garnered them much praise.
Also in town for the occasion is Sydney designer Simon Goldstein – a.k.a. Electric Firefly – who’s original Firefly Series light was shortlisted for an Australian Design Award in 2004.
A promising line-up of influential creatives is certain to provide much food for thought for Novocastrians on 10, 17, 24 and 31 March from 5.30pm.
