A new exhibition at Adelaide’s Gallery on Waymouth is the work of local designer and artist Michelle Giuffreda.
August 31st, 2011
“It is important for us as designers to not become caught up with the constraints of our daily profession,” says designer and emerging artist Michelle Giuffreda. “Painting enables me to embrace these constraints and apply them to a 2 dimensional plane.”
Her latest exhibition, on display at Gallery on Waymouth until 5 September, is a culmination of Giuffreda’s self expression. ’Arrival’ consists of 10 mixed media artworks exploring the emotional power of a woman, inspired by the vibrancy and free movement of flamenco music and dance.
Giuffreda’s layered textural works are characterised by a bold palette and fluid, organic forms. Her next series of work will push her experimentation with texture and movement even further.
The exhibition, part of the SALA (South Australian Living Artists) Festival, opened on 17 August with a guest performance from dance group Flamenco Dance Areti.
