Milan Design Week starts this week! If in town, do check out Tom Dixon’s mega showcase happening at the iconic Cinema and Galleria on via Manzoni.
April 2nd, 2017
Tom Dixon Studio will be presenting MULTIPLEX in a ginormous 840-seat cinema and historic galleria on via Manzoni from 4 to 9 April 2017 as part of Milan Design Week.
Based on the theme of Yesterday, Today and Tomorrow, the studio will be exhibiting fresh new ideas, classic designs and innovative proposals – with some done in partnership with unique collaborators. Highlights include…
The Veterans
Instantly recognisable products from Tom Dixon’s past portfolio such as the S Chair, Bird Chaise Lounge and Pylon Chair will be re-engineered, recoloured and reinvigorated for relaunch.
The New
The studio will be unveiling the futuristic and faceted Cut pendant, the Melt lamp in a greater number of new applications, and last but not least, SUPER-TEXTURE, their first foray into weaving, sewing and embellishing where they explore the extreme textures of velvets, boucles and knits.
Pop-up Shops
In Galleria Manzoni, the studio will be bringing a classic shopping arcade to life with a multitude of boutiques. Some will be created by the studio while others will be done in partnership with collaborators.
Tom Dixon x IKEA
IKEA will be running a film festival at MULTIPLEX to showcase the DELAKTIG ‘living platform’ project.
An ongoing collaboration with Tom Dixon, DELAKTIG is an experiment that challenges the conventional methods of creation and distribution of furniture and explores the notions of adaptability and future proofing. One of the resulting designs from this project, the Bed-Sofa, will be shown for the very first time at the venue.
Tom Dixon will also be previewing a haute-couture DELAKTIG furniture cover, done with BEMZ. Visitors can enjoy all this and more and if they so choose, seek respite over at the Johnny Walker Bar…
