Hong Kong Art Week 2017 is fast approaching, with Art Central and Art Basel in Hong Kong, along with a host of satellite events, happening in the week of 20 March. For one week, art will be front and centre in every Hongkonger’s mind, and what better time than now to think about art coupled with design?

This is why INSIGHT School of Interior Design is hosting a special short course on Art and Interiors. On 24 March 2017, participants will discover the principles of making art work in any space in a morning lecture running from 10am to 1pm at INSIGHT’s Chai Wan school. Giving the lecture will be Eve Mercier, the leading Hong Kong interior design school’s Founder, and a former Christie’s alumni, having worked for the auction house in Paris and London.

Under discussion will be how to frame, mount, install and light art in spaces ranging from commercial to residential. Participants will learn how to mix art with their furniture and colour palette, as well as finding out the right time to bring art into the design process.

The lecture will be followed by a private tour of this year’s Art Basel in Hong Kong from 2pm; participants will be guided by an art curator, who will talk them through some of the most important contemporary artists from Asia and around the world.
