New York’s Steven Burks arrives in Hong Kong with DALA, his hand-woven outdoor collection created for DEDON.
August 8th, 2013
With a strong dedication to quality whilst positioned as a market leader in outdoor furnishings, it was crucial for DEDON to collaborate with a designer who had a vision that matched their own – since joining forces in 2010 with Stephen Burks, an adaptable outdoor five-piece lounging concept has evolved.

As one of sharpest talents of a new generation of American designers, Steven Burks has an open outlook to design and likes to inject a pluralistic vision to contemporary styles – with a global background including time spent working in Africa, Italy, India and Peru; the designer delivers great cultural influence to his ideas.

Inspired by his travels and the people he encounters, Steven has selected revolutionary fibres for the bespoke range – his goal was to highlight cultural diversity, and with the choice of fibres and contrasting textures the design spells just that.

The lightweight and portable DALA collection that comes in three savvy hues; stone, fire and grass is strengthened by an aluminium mesh – hand-woven through the bars is a recycled food and drink packaging fibre – a first for DEDON but one that provides each item with a lustrous yet durable sheen.

Assembled in Cebu, the Philippines each piece is unique in its weave presentation – and all pieces are circular to play on the relaxed outdoor vibe. Known as the weaving capitol of the world, DEDON ensure all their production remains within the Philippine precinct to ensure a premium result.
