Geelong Design Week returns from 21 to 30 November, immersing visitors in a robust line-up of more than 70 events, exhibitions, workshops and discussions. Celebrating the unique status as Australia’s sole UNESCO City of Design, this ten-day festival spotlights innovation in local, Indigenous, and sustainable design, unfolding across Geelong, the Bellarine Peninsula, and the Surf Coast.
Among the highlights is MOTEL, the live show by Tim Ross, who amalgamates nostalgia with comedy to revisit the roadside culture of Australia. This celebrated show plays host to mid-century design and memories, adding a playful element to the programme.

A notable event at the National Wool Museum brings a compelling exploration of textile design, repurposing recycled materials and waste into immersive installations. The installations draw on living biomaterials and natural dyes, stressing the possibilities for sustainable, forward-thinking design in fashion and interiors.
For a powerful perspective on the Indigenous heritage of Geelong, a guided walk led by Wadawurrung Traditional Owners takes visitors through central Geelong, offering an authentic look at how Indigenous culture and knowledge shape the city’s design legacy.
With both free and ticketed events, and many options accessible online, Geelong Design Week encourages attendees to engage, explore and celebrate the innovative spirit at the heart of this UNESCO City of Design. The full programme is now available on the Geelong Design Week website, with early registration encouraged for ticketed events.
