Woods Bagot has teamed up with Qantas and a host of well-known designers to create the lush new Qantas Club lounges at Canberra Airport.
April 1st, 2011
The latest collaboration between Woods Bagot and Qantas sees the completion of the Qantas Canberra lounges in the new Canberra Airport Terminal.
“The vision was to create a lounge that caters for today’s requirements, yet can be easily adapted to expand and accommodate future passenger growth,” said Alison Webster, Executive Manager, Customer Experience, Qantas Airways.
The Qantas Club is divided into 2 zones – a light filled outlook to the runway, and an internal space with a bar and buffet – to “evolve and freshen the Qantas Club look and feel as well as introduce a new palette and furniture to the Business Lounge,” said Tamara White, Associate, Woods Bagot.
Custom designed furniture by industrial designer David Caon and Woods Bagot is a standout, with pure aniline leather from Pelle Leathers, classic geometric textiles, sateen wool and upholstery from Maharam, Woven Image and Mokum.
Travertine floors, Akira Isogawa-designed wall textiles and hanging pendant lights from Moooi add further warmth and comfort to the lounges.
Timber screens break up the space and provide intimate seating areas. Crisp, contemporary patterns continue throughout the fit-out.
The Qantas Canberra lounges continue Woods Bagot’s series of lounges in Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, Canberra, Perth, Townsville, Darwin, Hong Kong, Bangkok, Singapore, Auckland and Wellington.
