Dining for a cause at this year’s Melbourne Cup.
September 21st, 2010
Created by Rebecca Perry, Managing Director of Response-group Australia, Food Wine and Design is an engaging epicurean experience all in the name of a philanthropic cause.
The events provide an opportunity for industry professionals to collaborate to support emerging designers and assist the community sharing a meal.
Following on from the success of last year’s inaugural event, FW&D will celebrate the Melbourne Cup 150th Anniversary Celebration in conjunction with FDC.
The culinary event will be held at Dolton House on the upper deck of the historic Finger Wharf at the newly restored Jones Bay Wharf, Pyrmont Point.
Pre-lunch drinks will kick off on the outside deck with the majestic harbour as the backdrop, before it’s to the tables for a spectacular lunch paired with wines.
At the event FW&D will report on their recently completed renovation of Shanti’s bathroom, a ten-year-old girl with VACTERL Syndrome.
FW&D will then present the wish list of much-needed items for The Children’s Hospital at Westmead.
During the day there will be silent and live Auction of items and holidays, which have been donated, and a Calcutta Sweep.
After the success of FW&D’s First Course in 2009, which raised over $18K for St Edmunds School’s wish list, the Melbourne Cup celebration is hoping that the industry will pledge over $40,000.00 of equipment.
