On Wednesday 29 July, The Bold Collective and {small} bytes of happiness will host a digital arts and crafts workshop online, presented by Haworth and Milliken-Ontera.
July 23rd, 2020
The third iteration of {small} bytes of happiness is brought to us by Haworth, as always, and Milliken-Ontera. This time attendees will enjoy an arts and crafts workshop with Monika Branagan and Ali McShane of The Bold Collective.
Monika and Ali founded The Bold Collective out of a shared love of design and, more notably, unorthodox fun. In the years since the multidisciplinary design studio has become known for its work across workplace, retail, hospitality and education in both interior and graphic design.
Over nearly ten years as team leaders and business owners, Monika and Ali have encouraged their staff to participate in wellness and creative pursuits such as yoga, dance and monthly crafternoon sessions – all in business hours.
Inspired by the movement back to baking in the kitchen and crafting hobbies – admittedly somewhat put upon us – this workshop has been designed around the cathartic practice of using our hands to create. the result is a design and craft workshop using Fimo (polymer clay that you bake).
Attendees will be provided with a kit of parts that enables you to make something completely unique – in line with your tastes and your creative inclinations. this could be something that you wear, like jewellery, or something that you view, like a sculpture.
To give some [very minimal] structure to the workshop, attendees are asked to select two design principles and two design elements to keep in mind. Design principles include: Scale, Balance, Harmony, Emphasis, Contrast, Repetition, Movement, Proportion and Rhythm. Design elements could range from Colour, Line, Value Shape, Texture, Space or Form. In preparation for the workshop, you are encouraged to consider what you would like to make and have some conceptual ideas on the above.
It’s time to get creative and to use your hands – join Haworth, Milliken-Ontera and The Bold Collective for a one-of-a-kind Fimo workshop. Register below or find out more from the Facebook event page.
