In an increasingly foodie-centric culture it makes sense that more traditional fast food eateries evolve too. So when Adelaide’s Chicken Hub was on a redesign mission, the TK Design team knew to look to Staron
Chicken Hub is a busy takeaway food outlet in Adelaide’s Aberfoyle Park, offering food from the heart. With a redesign in mind, the owners were after a fitout that stood apart from other competitors with a durable, yet creative design with visual interest.
Tania Kloester of TK Design was approached to create a space to accommodate both dine in and takeaway customers. A timber structure was built in the heart of the store to define the counter area and create a sense of warmth and textural interest. Clever lighting draws the eye to the retail zone.
A dining hub was created, using Staron ‘Mosaic Dalmatian’ for seating and ‘Metallic Sleeksilver’ for the tabletops. The clients specified that they wanted to use a product that was easy to clean, had no open joins, and offered an impressive feature to the space. Having replaced the old upholstered seating several times, the fast-food outlet required a surface that was repairable and durable.
The properties of Staron Solid Surfaces have allowed for the banquette seat to be ergonomically formed with seamless built-in table areas to the waiting area. The colour and texture to the ‘Mosaic Dalmatian’ feels smooth underhand, and offers a unique pattern with a soft forgiving nature.
Staron ‘Metallic Sleeksilver’ was used in the fabrication of the table tops; complementing the seating and surrounding area perfectly. The non-porous properties offer a hygienic, easy-to-clean application, which looks and feels amazing.
The end result is a vibrant new layout featuring exciting finishes and providing an invitation to people passing by to come in.
