Newly available to the Australian market, exclusively by JEB Interior Solutions, Dum Office is a Dutch furniture label founded in 2008 with a quirky, playful and human-centric design sensibility.
The design label was founded with the objective of offering unique items for common spaces – to embellish break out areas, workspaces, lounges and waiting rooms with outspoken human designs with a domestic feel. Beauty is a bi-product to these Netherland designers, but is never the end goal – flexible, playful, edgy, clean and considerate design is the objective here, this is what DUM strives for in all its pieces.
The Beech Connect table system is quintessential DUM style. Featuring a staggered 3-legged support system, these sturdy tables can be customised to a simple low desk up to an 8-meter long canteen bench, or reworked as an elegant round table. Available in two heights of 74 and 103cm, and 2 table shapes (round or rectangular – there are a huge range applications and configurations possible. What sets this system apart is its personality –rounded off feet, natural timbers and playful supports really set the mood for users and invite them to relax and take the space a little less seriously.
These sensibilities continue to the rest of their products. Pleated fabric drapes over asymmetrical lighting frames; beech benches feature one seat back; chair frames are cheeky yet minimal. Youthful colourways and non-fussy construction cement these products as the gelato cones of the commercial design diet.
Although DUM revels in it’s joy-filled designs, it is underpinned by natural, locally sourced timbers, thoughtful power and data integrations, and considered ideas. Their magic works because the underlying quality of materials and ideas is second to none.
The DUM range is newly available to Australian designers and design lovers alike through JEB, who see the range as answering the demand for humanised pieces of potentially office furniture. The team at JEB gravitated towards the DUM story, and appreciated their craftsmanship and they, like us, were completely charmed by their range of tables, chairs and lighting.
