Profile: Melbourne Designer Helen Kontouris

Helen Kontouris is barely past her third decade of life, but this young Melbourne designer has achieved a mountain in her short career.

Having established her company Helen Kontouris Design in 2002, she has since collaborated with a number of national and international clients, manufacturers, architects and retailers, including: WMF (Germany), Coffex (Australia), Schiavello (Australia), Kundalini (Italy), Manufacturas Celda (Spain) and Sunweave (HongKong) to name a few.

A finalist in Corporate Culture’s Design Journey Competition in 2005, and a finalist in the Launch Pad Design Competition in both 2004 and 2006, this industrial designer is fast becoming a name to remember.

Considering her broad product range – from lighting, to chairs, sofas, candelabras, and outdoor furniture – Kontouris is a designer for all quarters. Each of her pieces are unique as extensive research underpins the development of each individual design.
