The NSW Minister for Finance, Services and Property, Dominic Perrottet and Planning Minister Rob Stokes has unveiled The Goods Line, a new, innovative urban corridor and open space, linking Railway Square through Ultimo to Darling Harbour.
September 7th, 2015
Designed by CHROFI and landscape architects ASPECT Studios, the space began as a disused rail line, and has been transformed into a vibrant elevated pedestrian walkway and cycle path, featuring recreational and entertainment spaces, grassed areas, a children’s water playground, table tennis tables, seating (including a communal table) and study pods nestled in trees. ASPECT Studios are a partner of the 202020 Vision Network – a national campaign to increase urban green space in Australia by 20 percent by 2020.
CEO of Sydney Harbour Foreshore Authority Catherine Gallagher said the carefully crafted, urban hub has invigorated Sydney’s most densely populated area, and is sure to attract students, families, tourists and the health conscious alike to its many beautifully designed, mixed-use green spaces. “Our vision was to create a series of recreational, entertainment and study spaces where people can have fun and relax, whether that be playing table tennis, exercising, lying down on the grass and reading a book or socialising at the 20-seat communal table,” says Gallagher.
