The coming together of this industry leader and educational institution delivers creative outcomes and invaluable experience
September 20th, 2013
Core components of Indesign’s annual Architecture and Design event are the innovative collaborations between exhibitors and the creatives from across design community – from small practice to large firms and tertiary institutions – a series called The Project.
In 2013 the pairing of CATC Design School with Polyflor resulted in an stimulating installation that demonstrated not only Polyflor’s product offering but also the creative potential for industry and education to meet on common, mutually-beneficial ground. The team was made up of Maddie Stewart, Peter Lennon, Carli Dixon, Mariah Burton, Laura Sutherland, lead by Mel O’Brien CATC’s Interior Design Program Manager. Integral to the process was the contribution from Scott Kelly and Lisa Mathis at Polyflor.
Working to create an arresting pop-up presence for Polyflor at Sydney Indesign’s Galleria design hub, a select group of students worked in conjunction with the Polyflor team to take the display stand from concept to completion in only four weeks.
Central in CATC Design School’s program is the building of strong ties to the professional design community. Sydney Indesign provided that opportunity for future design industry professionals to work side-by-side and for their future colleagues and employers, an unrivalled opportunity to learn practical, lasting skills and relationships.
