Umber, the award winning collection breathes nature and beauty; transporting New Zealand’s wildernesses into the living space.

Zenith provides innovative solutions for all work and commercial environments, leading the Australian workstation and loose furniture market. Zenith is home to the most highly coveted brands globally, and has been so for over 50 years.
Enter ‘Umber’, an award winning collection designed by Richard Simpson and crafted by Tréology, New Zealand. Taking inspiration from New Zealand’s beauty in nature and landform, Umber takes timber rescued from the depths of the Fiords and crafts elegant detail elements into this warm and inviting collection of furniture.
This chair’s distinctive angular profile was inspired by the contrasting angles of New Zealand’s Southern Alps. Designed to sit comfortably in its own space, the Umber Chair offers a low, laid-back sitting position for relaxed enjoyment.
Designer Richard Simpson is a freelance product and furniture designer living and working in Christchurch, New Zealand. He is passionate about working with natural materials and expressing their beauty but also about form and function. “For me, design is not a superficial entity but requires a deep understanding to deliver truly inspirational results,” he says.
At Tréology, they don’t design their pieces. Nature does that for them. They simply appreciate the natural form of timber and craft it into a contemporary piece. Dedicated to the eternity of trees, the Davies family have been recognised for superior timber craftsmanship for five generations. The Davies’ value the sanctuary of family, the wonder of nature and the adventure of life. For more than 150 years, their dedication to fine craftsmanship and integrity in all they do, has come together in Tréology.
Umber is a subtle expression of natural beauty and craftsmanship, designed to fit seamlessly in any setting or to stand alone in its own right. Created in nature. Crafted by man. Now available and exclusive to Zenith interiors.
